18/05/2010: Leamington is a Fairtrade Town!

"Fairtrade Status awarded to Royal Leamington Spa"

Royal Leamington Spa has been successful in its application to the Fairtrade Foundation in obtaining reaccreditation of Fairtrade Town status.  This national award recognises the commitment of the community to supporting the principles of Fairtrade and achieving success in meeting a number of specified conditions which include:-

• Support of the Local Council in using Fairtrade products
• Availability of Fairtrade products in a range of shops, cafes and catering establishments
• Use of Fairtrade products by local employers and community organisations, including Faith Communities
• Support of the Media
• Maintaining a local Steering Group to ensure continued commitment to the Campaign.
