MAYOR WELCOMES MILLENNIUM WAY WALKERS TO LEAMINGTON
The Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa welcomed Millennium Way walkers as they embarked on the 5 miles Leamington circular town walk as part of their 100 miles challenge. The Millennium Way is a beautiful 100 mile trail across the Heart of England, which has something to offer every serious walker and casual rambler.
Cllr Susan Rasmussen, Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, said “It was a delight to welcome the Millennium Way walkers to our beautiful Regency town. The trail through Leamington takes around two hours but it might be wise to take longer to explore some of the wonderful historical sites along the way. Stop off at our Royal Pump Rooms and linger in the attractive Jephson Gardens and stroll down the Grand Union Canal and River Leam. We wish the walkers good speed on the next stage of their 100 miles.”
Barry Durman Chairman of the Millennium Way said: “We were so pleased to meet the Mayor and share some lifetime experiences as well as promote the Millennium Way. It’s good to walk for mental and physical health and the Millennium Way gives people in the Heart of England the opportunity to see our fabulous countryside and lovely towns and villages”
Barry, Rachel and Sarah are doing a personal challenge to walk 100 miles in 10 days. Once the challenge is completed it will be loaded onto the Millennium Way website for others to follow. The Millennium Way Trail has been enhanced by 44 fabulous circular walks check the link to explore a walk near you http://www.walking.41club.org/
